The Greeks Had a Word for Them
"An excellent original print of a film seen all too rarely these days except in lackluster dupes, this was the first of several filmings of a typical Depression fable of three girls on the prowl for millionaires. (How to Marry a Millionaire was probably the best known of the remakes.) Wittily played and directed by Lowell Sherman, and with enjoyable contrast in the three young ladies-Madge Evans, Joan Blondell and the more mature Ina Claire-this is a sophisticated rather than hilarious pre-Code comedy, all played out against Richard Day's stunningly designed art deco sets." -William K. Everson
