Guilt Is My Shadow
"In 1939 Roy Kellino teamed with James Mason to make the entirely non-studio I Met aMurderer, one of the first British film noirs. A decade later, with a biggerbudget that allowed for nightmarish dream sequences, and full studio facilities,he returned to the genre to make another study in murder and guilt against asimilar background of rural English farm life. Elizabeth Sellars, something of aBritish noir icon in both victim and villain roles, accidentally kills herno-good husband, played by Peter Reynolds who briefly enjoyed a fling as a kindof English Richard Widmark. Lacking the initiative of I Met a Murderer, it isstill a stylishly done if somewhat contrived melodrama."-William K.Everson
