One of those elegant, witty, perfect murder stories that the British are so fond of, although in this case rather surprisingly, considering its restricted action, based on a novel rather than a play. One of its surprises is that murderer (Robert Newton), victim (Phil Brown), relentless detective (Naunton Wayne) and even faithless wife (Sally Gray) remain quite likeable and maintain a chummy relationship with each other.
