The Holy Bunch

In reaction to the death of a friend, a group of artists begin to explore their collective past by perusing his notebooks and their own artistic creations. Complexly structured to shift between the past and present, scenes from life and scenes from a novel, The Holy Bunch simultaneously constructs and deconstructs the role of art in the group's lives and its relationship to human spirit. (Gertrude Koch) With The Basis of Make-Up (Heinz Emigholz, Germany, 1974/1983, 20 mins, Silent, Color): Drawing on his illustrated notebooks from 1974 to 1983, a notebook written by his father in 1941, and a sketchbook, photographs, and drawings, Emigholz explores the "make-up" of a man who appears in several of his films.Heinz Emigholz has been working as an artist, writer, and filmmaker in Hamburg since 1972. He is a visiting artist at California Institute of the Arts in Valencia.
