The Hypocrites
A naked Truth reveals the hypocrisy of society in the dream of a pastor troubled by his congregation's moral laxity. The film was banned in Boston, where the censors required that clothing be added frame-by-frame; the irony of re-covering up the truth was evidently lost on them. Weber's depictions in this and other films were criticized by some as sensationalist; under the guise of social concern, she was seen as creating exploitation films. Please note that the print has some damaged footage. Preceded by Suspense, noted for its use of multiple images, close-ups, and camera angles. -Kathy Geritz
