Tula Asselanis's ornery I, Doll (56:40 mins) fleshes out the historyof Barbie and her Mattel mates, Skipper, Midge, Ken and kin, with an endlesspageant of pert accessories, anecdotes, and assaults. Barbie's beginnings, tracedback to a German prostitute doll named "Lili," are chronicled withshowy and humorous detail, including comments from doll dynasty luminaries suchas the curator of the Barbie Hall of Fame.
