I Kiss Your Hand, Madame

"Few of Marlene Dietrich's silent films survive, and they have generally been given short shrift in evaluations of her career. This silent is certainly her best, and her sensuality fills the screen even at this early date. Harry Liedtke, one of the most likeable leading men in German film history, is perhaps a little old as the romantic lead, but he is charming nonetheless. The plot involves a Russian count (Liedtke) who is working as a headwaiter, and a divorcée-about-Paris (Dietrich) who falls for the count, then finds he is a waiter and pouts until discovering he really is a count. The film was a huge success at the time. This is an American release print."-UCLA Film & Television Archive
