I Will Not Move! (Non Mi Muovo!)

Carlo Mezzetti, an appraiser at an auction house, is a bizarre and inconsistent spirit. Evicted from his home, and without a cent, he wanders about Naples, dragging behind his wife and daughter and all their worldly possessions. An empty apartment is found and with unmatched gall he settles in; vain are the insistences of, first, the doorman and then the owner to throw him out. Even the involvement of a lawyer does not persuade the obstinate Mezzetti. Amidst the turmoil of apartment life, the owner, who is a pleasant young man, falls in love with Mezzetti's daughter. Their affair becomes the perfect union of love and real estate. Incidentally, the Mezzettis are played by the acting family unit of Eduardo, Titina and Peppino De Filippo. I Will Not Move! has much in common with Eastern Europe's popular "apartment to let" genre, but its greatest affinity is with American domestic comedies of the period. You can just about see Cary Grant pulling Rosalind Russell and Margaret O'Brien close behind.
