Irene

Colleen Moore wore no fewer than thirty gowns (and publicists had a field day promoting their cost) in this 1926 film, originally with a color fashion show extravaganza as the centerpiece, that capitalized on the public's interest in seeing the actress as model. Moore plays an obstreperous Irish lass escaped from the tenements to a job in a modiste's shop. George K. Arthur plays the dress designer who works under the name of Madame Lucy and has many of Madame's traits. William K. Everson wrote, "This famous musical comedy (later remade with Anna Neagle) doesn't let the fact that it can't talk or sing stand in the way of its being a delightful comedy vehicle for Colleen Moore."
