(José e Pilar). The Nobel Prize–winning Portuguese novelist and playwright José Saramago died in 2010, leaving behind a wealth of writings noted for their intelligence and style. José and Pilar, a portrait detailing the last years of his life, reveals the man behind the books. At its heart is the love story between Saramago and his Spanish wife, journalist Pilar del Río.
