Orphaned after the death of his mother, Julio soon escapes from an orphanage worthy of Dickens and meets a curmudgeonly widower who is certain he is not Julio's angel-despite Julio's conviction to the contrary. Julio's persistence ultimately prevails as the two develop a tender friendship that beautifully illustrates how the power of faith can make anything possible.
