. Winner of the People's Choice Award at the Montreal International Children's Film Festival, this warmhearted story unfolds amidst the cold winter landscape of the Eastern Townships of Quebec in the 1920s. Unwilling to accept the loss of his father, a renowned Arctic explorer who disappeared on an expedition, 12-year-old Sam MacKenzie is having trouble adapting to his new home and stepfather. But when he befriends a beautiful wild dog and enlists the help of his new pal Jaynie in building a dogsled to compete in a big local race, attitudes begin to shift and the action (though not the temperature) begins to heat up.
