La Collectionneuse

Like cats, Rohmer's male protagonists watch the world go by and occasionally pounce upon a choice morsel in order to engage it in mysterious play, then walk away. La Collectionneuse's Adrien is a dealer in antiques who determines to spend his summer literally doing nothing in a friend's villa on the outskirts of St. Tropez. There he finds two other guests, his friend Daniel, a painter; and Hayd?, a young woman who brings home any guy she likes. Her sexual ease rankles the men's presumed morl superiority (as well as something more inferior), and they dub her la collectionneuse. When she sleeps with Daniel, Adrien intellectualizes that their liaison is for his benefit-until doubts set in. Filmed in St. Tropez, in color, in summer, with a cast of non-professional actors.
