L'Afrance

A Senegalese student in Paris is immobilized by poverty, doubt, and disenfranchisement. Watching his fellow African students become integrated into Parisian life, he asks, "Is what they learn worth what they will forget?" But a French lover teaches him about something he is loathe to accept: his individuality. This is a compelling picture of the Africa within France, and a crystalline portrait of an African intellectual abroad.
