The Last to Know plus The Story of Anna O.

In Wheeler Auditorium
Admission $4.00
Followed by a panel discussion with health professionals, doctors and others who work in San Francisco's alcohol community.
Nearly one-half of the ten million alcoholics in this country are women, yet their special problems are totally ignored. Concealed by families, protected by friends, betrayed by physicians, these women are kept invisible. Through the intimate stories of four women's lives, we see how the medical community, the media and the values of society at large perpetuate alcoholism and prescription drug abuse in women. The Last to Know combines scholarly, social and historical analysis with poignant personal interviews, bringing to public attention a hidden and denied aspect of women's health.
“The best film on women, alcohol and drugs.... It will contribute enormously to our understanding of this serious and long neglected problem. Everyone should see it.” --Natalie Becker, Deputy Executive Director, National Council on Alcoholism
