The Last Outlaw and A Cowhand's Song

A Cowhand's Song: Crisis on the Range
East Coast filmmakers Gwendolyn Clancy and Nancy Kelly spent a year making themselves at home on the range before actually filming this unique documentary on family ranchers in California and Nevada whose way of life is threatened with extinction. A Cowhand's Song is an informative exploration of a 20th Century range war, an issue of vital importance to the new West. Following the ranchers through four seasons--from spring cattle drive through a typically harsh winter--it is also a loving tribute to traditions familiar to us through the Western and made real for us here.
