This program is the culmination of BAM/PFA Family Day: bring the whole family to sing with the T Sisters, drink lemonade and eat ice cream, and customize bowler hats and costumes for a Laurel & Hardy–themed parade before the movie!

Laurel & Hardy make beautiful comedy together as slapstick meets surrealism and inanimate objects inevitably get the better of them. In Busy Bodies the duo wage war on the tools of a sawmill. In County Hospital they create havoc as Ollie recuperates from a broken leg. And in Academy Award–winning The Music Box, they attempt the Sisyphean task of moving a piano up an enormous flight of stairs. This is the first of two programs featuring UCLA Film & Television Archive’s new restorations of Laurel & Hardy’s films: bowler hats will fly again on Sunday, July 12.
