Lazybones
"In content, Lazybones is a thoroughly typical 'quota quickie,' and only in Powell's technique and enthusiasm can one find saving graces... It has the kind of plot which was typical of the quota quickie, giving a great deal of dialogue to a fair number of characters who are moved constantly from room to room in a number of houses. No audience could reasonably be expected to get excited over the story-line... Regardless of the limitations of budget, Powell does try to keep his film pictorially alive and interesting. The camera moves a great deal and sometimes even quite elaborately, almost at times with a kind of exasperation, as though either trying to inject life into the plot through sheer technical expertise, or perhaps trying to divert attention from the plot... Framings and compositions are often both imaginative and pleasing..." -William K. Everson
