This winning first feature explores a friendship between two single mothers in a small lakeside hotel. Laura leaves her latest boyfriend and sets off with her daughter Muriel for the mountain town of her youth. The voyage is sidetracked when Laura's car rolls off a cliff into a lake, taking her life savings with it. They knock on the door of an abandoned hotel, hoping for a place to spend the night. As the days turn into weeks waiting for someone to rescue Laura's car from the lake, an unlikely friendship grows between Laura and the hotel owner Mirta (who has herself been abandoned).
