Little-Bird Gómez (Pajarito Gómez)
An acid satire on pop-culture consumerism, this is the tragi-comedy of a totally manufactured man sold to the masses as the latest rock idol. Having been supplied with a new past and a false present, Little-Bird Gomez basks in the adulation of his thousands of fans; when alone, he is the bewildered prisoner of his own non-existence. The film's ironic climax proves the point, as Little-Bird's show goes on quite well without him; if you never really lived, perhaps like Elvis you can't really die. With a lively rock score, Little-Bird Gomez won a special Young Director prize at the 1965 Berlin Film Festival.
