Little Dramas of the Big Places: Trail of the North Wind

The first of a projected dozen two-reel nature films, Trail of the North Wind is an extraordinarily beautiful drama filmed on a miniscule budget in the harshest winter conditions. In a grisly accident, Grandpa has "trapped" his hand in a beartrap. He sends his grandson Billy (played by Shipman's son Barry) to Dreena, the wilderness "Story Girl" (Shipman) for assistance. Together, they set out for help. But their dog team runs away across the lovely and deadly lake ice, and Nature's "Big Bully," the North Wind, roars down upon them in a blinding blizzard...Everything depends on a loyal malamute who has returned to his mistress from the runaway team...
