"A bit past the peak period of film noir, this tale of an innocent man's quest for revenge is a little long in the telling, considering the basic familiarity of the material and the type-casting (especially poor Elizabeth Sellars!), but as a lesser-known and very stylish Hamer film it's well worth a revival" (William K. John Mills stars as an embittered soul, just released from a twelve-year prison term for a murder he did not commit, and resolved to repay those who sent him up-including his girlfriend (Sellars), now married to a detective on the case (John McCallum).
