Love and Journalism
Jon Mirsalis on Piano(Kärlek och journalistik). As the earliest of his intact films, Love and Journalism gives unique insight into Stiller's ironic style of cinematic narration and demonstrates an early stage of the social comedies for which he became well known. Unlike other early films, Love and Journalism has begun to get away from the use of intertitles as captions or chapter headings and instead incorporates them into the narrative action. Karin Molander plays a tough reporter willing to do anything to get an exclusive story on a famous, journalist–shy Antarctic explorer who has just returned home from a successful venture. Her tenacious attempts to get the inside scoop are thwarted by a diligent and overprotective housekeeper until she goes undercover as a maid.
