This Man Is News

This brisk and witty comedy-thriller, in which a reporter gets involved in the business of jewel thievery and murder, features the ever-droll Alastair Sim who, in '38, was definitely news. Having begun his career as a professor of elocution, Sim entered films in 1935 and went on to become Britain's most eccentric comedian, known for his astounding repertoire of twitches and scowls, pregnant pauses and frightening grins. (American audiences perhaps know him best for The Belles of St. Trinians, in which he played both the Headmistress and her brother.)
