Mischief (Frevel)

Peter Fleischmann stars in this psychological thriller, which he also wrote and directed, about a police detective, Lohmann, who literally loses himself in his latest case. Lohmann is a work-obsessed individual who has an impressive record for cracking cases and an exceptional talent for uncovering criminal motivation. When presented with a young mother who has killed her child, he is baffled by the calm, complete silence she maintains under questioning. As the police become involved in a flurry of investigation--from reenacting the murder scene to interviewing neighbors--Lohmann becomes increasingly intrigued and dangerously infatuated by the murderess, who seems to have left not a clue to her action. Music by Brian Eno contributes to the atmosphere of this mystery of obsession. Peter Fleischmann is a veteran of the New German Cinema with films including Hunting Scenes in Bavaria, The Third Degree and The Hamburg Sickness.
