My Brother the Vampire
Family ties are put to the test in this kooky but genuinely sweet comedy, where three siblings are each struggling with urges of lust and visions of romance. Fourteen–year–old Nic is obsessed with her digital camera as well as with a schoolyard crook; Michael is experiencing his first real love. Josch is the ringer of the bunch and the crux of the film-a playful but mentally disabled man with a vampire fixation. First–time director Taddicken balances the oddball elements; ultimately, Josch is a vision of humanity at its most innocent. With short Gregor's Greatest Invention (Johannes Kiefer, Germany, 2001, 11 mins).
