My Sister Eileen

"Fresh from Columbus, OH, Ruth and Eileen Sherwood are eager to set up quarters in a Greenwich Village flat so they can get on with careering. What their naive enthusiam has failed to budget for is the steady stream of traffic their presence attracts. The vivacious Eileen (Janet Blair) is beguiled by acting...and other things as well. Her more cynically-witted sister Ruth (Rosalind Russell) aspires to be a writer. As hilarious mishappenstance would have it, their bohemian domicile and Eileen's escapades provide ample fodder for Ruth's quill. As they teeter on the brink of scandal, a charming magazine editor (Brian Aherne) buys their story and wins a heart. In a slight bow to the Hays Office, certain 'ribald' lines in the stage version have been tempered. However, inference remains robustly intact in this comedy featuring brisk dialogue, colorful neighborhood types (including the Three Stooges in a climactic cameo appearance) and two doors which are key to an array of gags and jokes. Alexander Hall (Here Comes Mr. Jordan) directs." Laura Thielen
