Native Shore

: This work is unlike my other films in that there is minimal formal manipulation of elements except for some small repetitions of imagery and a piano loop. The film springs from thoughts about New England-it is not unlike a folk tune or folktale received through an oral tradition. The song by Charles Ives is adapted from Thoreau's Walden. By inclusion and usage, the film acknowledges common ground and a common spirit; and much the same as Ives' songs or Thoreau's writings, is bound firmly to locale and the native tradition. D.E.
