Nazareth 2000

Moving beyond militias and gunfire, Hany Abu–Assad returns to his native Nazareth for the millenium celebrations and trains his camera instead on two regular citizens, Abu Arab and Abu Maria, gas station attendants for the past twenty–five years. Everyone in town knows them, and they know everyone; spending time cracking jokes, eating and drinking, and avoiding their new boss and his questionable "employee management" skills, they prove the perfect guides to a city threatening to split wide open between Christian, Jew, and Muslim. If they have anything to say, though, good sense, humor, and sympathy will prevail.
