The Night Has Eyes (U.S. Title: Terror House) 1

The mystery of a schoolteacher venturing into un- known territory-the Yorkshire moors, where a friend disappeared a year earlier-and previously unknown passions. Her dark adventure is heightened by the sense of no-man's-land in which it takes place: a house, seemingly adrift in the foggy moors, wherein a shellshocked composer (Mason) dwells, attended by his childhood nanny (Mary Clare) and her leering husband (Wilfrid Lawson). William K. Everson: A wartime Old Dark House...Stylish and quirky, and unexpectedly grim. In Britain the censors suddenly reversed themselves and slapped an "Adults Only" rating on it, causing consternation, many canceled bookings in family theatres, and delight from horror fans since new American horror films were banned for the duration of the war. Wilfrid Lawson as usual steals most of the limelight as a killer with a lecherous sense of humor.
