Nightmare in Wax
Nightmare in Wax didn't come with a gimmick, but it sure could use one. So we're going to oblige, concocting our own bit of homicidal hoopla. Watch as the BAM/PFA Student Committee puts the wick back in wicked.
Vince Renard (Cameron Mitchell) is the top makeup artist at Paragon Pictures. He's also the top make-out artist, having won the heart of Paragon starlet Marie Morgan. In a jealous rage, movie mogul Max Black sets Vince's face on fire, and off runs our mascara maestro with a mug like a side of sizzling bacon. Disfigured enough to make you wince, Vince opens a wax museum (dutifully performed by L.A.'s Movieland Wax Museum) and pursues his evil plot: to turn Paragon's stars into waxy figures. With eye patch and glue-on scars, Mr. Mitchell, the Brando of B's, howls deliriously at his sculpted busts, obviously straight-faced actors with their noggins poked through a hole in the countertop. Gary Cooper, Vivien Leigh, and Clark Gable are also on hand, but they deliver their lines rather stiffly.
