Numbered Days
Who is this man who forces a stranger to give him a ride on his scooter, goes to a movie just to watch teenagers make out, or frightens a beggar out of his wits by stalking him for hours? Is he mad? A pervert? No, Cesare is a man who has realized that his days may be numbered. After seeing a random person his age fall dead in the middle of a city full of strangers, Cesare determines to live life to the fullest. He decides to get to know every child, teenager, adult, beggar, street worker, lawyer, and artist he can. He goes to galleries and beaches to reexperience the simple pleasures of life; but with such explorations come grave dangers and entanglements. Petri offers us images of sunny skies and dark alleyways in a film that brings together Antonionian artistry and neorealist grit.
