Helge Reidemeister's critical but intimate portrait of her sister, Hilde Kulbach, a fashion model, keenly observes a woman participating in the creation of herself as an object. But the film is inevitably an intriguing exploration of both sisters: "I always defended myself against her by dismissing her as superficial, easily seduced and pleasure seeking," Helge says. Now, in looking at Hilde, "what interests me are the marks left by the fear of growing old, the anxiety about being pushed out of the circle of supply and demand, the moments of loneliness and sadness and fury that sometimes light up her face, penetrating her beauty."
