Parole Fixer

J. Edgar Hoover's G-Men are the heroes, parole racketeers, the villains in this film based, like several others, on Hoover's book Persons in Hiding, and devoted to a supposedly factual portrayal of FBI operations. The drama revolves around a crooked lawyer who obtains parole for his clients--habitual criminals, all--by working in cahoots with the parole board chairman. Director Robert Florey allows for some humor amid the serious clean-up action, and under the “B” stars you'll find several curios including a young Anthony Quinn in the role of Francis “Big Boy” Bradmore.
