Pastoral

A story of a visit by a string quartet to a small village told with a wry humor characteristic of Iosseliani and a visual style reminiscent of Renoir. Beneath its theme of the interaction between town and country, the film's subtext is a bold look at the conditions of women in the village, which is quite possibly the reason Pastoral has never been shown in the West.
