The Pinochet Case

In a remote desert, people are digging up human bones, as if they were a team of anthropologists. But the bones are not from ancient times. They are those of victims of the military dictatorship led by Augusto Pinochet that ruled Chile from 1973 to 1990. Chilean filmmaker Patricio Guzmán (The Battle of Chile), exiled since 1973, has become his country's conscience. In this deeply moving film he examines the 1998 attempt by Spain to prosecute Pinochet, whose victims give their testimony, not before a judge, but before a mightier power: the camera.
