Based on the Booth Tarkington novel about a stage-struck girl who longs for stardom, Broadway and a successful marriage, Presenting Lily Mars is a conventional MGM musical made exceptional by Judy Garland's presence, and a good climactic production number. Van Heflin co-stars as a top Broadway producer, and Connie Gilchrist contributes a fine rendition of “Every Little Movement.”
