Puppet Animation by George Pal and Ladislas Starevich

Recommended for ages 5 and older. This program presents the work of two imaginative and technically expert puppet animators. From the pre-twenties into the forties, Ladislas Starevich created a fairy-tale world with animated animal puppets, while George Pal, working in Hollywood in the forties, used jointed wooden figures to charmingly tell children's stories. Starevich's Town Rat & Country Rat, Hatful of Dreams and Voice of the Nightingale will be shown along with 35mm, color nitrate prints of Pal's Puppetoons: Tubby the Tuba, And To Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street and Sky Princess.
