Raffles

In one of the most delightful of early sound comedies, Ronald Colman plays the dapper jewel thief Raffles, who cunningly evaded turn-of-the-century Scotland Yard in the short stories of E.W. Hornung. Raffles has one sidekick, named Bunny, and one sideline: rich women. The two come into conflict when Raffles' decision to "go straight" for the love of Lady Gwen is challenged by his friend's desperate and sudden need for money. Raffles goes straight for the jewels of Lady Melrose; later for Lady Gwen (in which role the comic talents of Kay Francis shine).
