Nine-year-old Rasmus is an orphan with a dream of one day finding new parents. Tired of waiting in the orphanage, he runs away to search on his own. Waking in a barn after his first night out, he meets a vagabond named Oskar, who agrees to let Rasmus travel with him until he finds his new mother and father. Though life on the road isn't easy, the pair manage to have their share of fun-and excitement. But will Rasmus ever find a new home?
