This is the moving story of two elderly people, María Eugenia Vargas and Carlos Valderrama, survivors of the avalanche from the Ruiz Volcano. They used to live on the banks of the Guali River and lost all their possessions there. After the tragedy, they were taken to the stadium in Honda and housed in tents with other families from the totally destroyed town of Armero. Since the tragedy in November, 1985, they have been coping with another way of life. --Laurence Kardish
