Regents' Lecture by Pedro Costa (Admission Free!)
Pedro Costa is in residence at UC Berkeley as a Regents' Lecturer, sponsored by the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. For over fifty years, this prestigious program has brought to the University individuals distinguished in the arts, letters, sciences, and business whose careers are outside of academia. In this program, Costa will discuss his remarkable films that mix documentary and fictional elements. He will focus on his Fontaínhas trilogy-Bones, In Vanda's Room, and Colossal Youth-set in a marginalized quarter of Lisbon inhabited by immigrants from former Portuguese colonies.
