Richart

Richard Tracy, the subject of Renwick and Smallman's zippy Richart, is another guy who likes culture's castoffs. He was one. Now known as Richart, Tracy was a psychiatric inmate when he discovered that art could set him free: "If you want to get out of the hospital, start making artwork like this." Seventeen years later, he's turned three residential lots into a maze of fantastical sculpture made from discards. Richart shows us a finicky, junk-obsessed artist who turns society's detritus into personal delirium.
