“A wonderfully ironic comedy of a young man in search of a wife and place to live that offers a vivid perspective on contemporary Algiers. Our hero distracts himself with Walter Mitty-like fantasies, imagining that he is adored by a beautiful girl on the bus and that he can dance like John Travolta. His mother finds him a suitable girl, but her family will agree to the marriage only if he can secure somewhere to live. Rents are far beyond his means, a dream apartment crumbles to dust, but in a conclusion worthy of Chaplin, he finds an unexpected solution. A delightful series of variations on a poignant theme.” Michael Webb, American Film Institute
