Sarah Cahill Concert

Renowned and "fiercely gifted" (New York Times) pianist Sarah Cahill performs a solo concert featuring works by composers Lou Harrison, Jon Scoville, Paul Dresher, and Ruth Crawford. A rare opportunity to hear Cahill play in the unique resonance of the new BAMPFA building.

For two works, Cahill will be joined by celebrated violinist Kate Stenberg.

Sarah Cahill, recently called “a sterling pianist and an intrepid illuminator of the classical avant-garde” by the New York Times and “a brilliant and charismatic advocate for modern and contemporary composers” by Time Out New York, has commissioned, premiered, and recorded numerous compositions for solo piano. Composers who have dedicated works to her include John Adams, Terry Riley, Frederic Rzewski, Pauline Oliveros, Yoko Ono, and Ingram Marshall, and she has also premiered pieces by Lou Harrison, Julia Wolfe, Toshi Ichiyanagi, George Lewis, Leo Ornstein, and many others.

Kate Stenberg has commissioned, recorded and performed hundreds of world premieres by living composers. Described as “highly virtuosic and deeply communicative…full of character and presence” (NewMusicBox) Kate Stenberg’s violin playing has led to performances worldwide and the release of dozens of recordings.
