The Seamstress

Preceded by Gaumont newsreels of 1927. (L'Arp?te). This popular comedy based on a stage play tells of a clever and sprightly seamstress who lives in Montmartre with a painter (against the better advice of the priest, played by director Donatien). Jacqueline (Lucienne Legrand) allows her couturier employer to pass her off as one of his top models. In this guise she woos an elderly American client but alienates her artistic boyfriend before certain surprise Oedipal entanglements are resolved.
