Second Fiddle
"A beautiful original print from an enterprising independent company known as The Film Guild, working on the East Coast in the early twenties, and trying to combine good entertainment with offbeat and intelligent material. This film, shot in New Jersey, is a lovely record of rural America at that time, and a charming romance which veers into surprisingly strong melodrama, so strong in fact that it is virtually a horror film at times. With Glenn Hunter, a very young and lovely Mary Astor, Townsend Martin, and, a Film Guild participant, here just playing a bit role, Osgood Perkins." William K. Everson
