John Brahm (The Locket) directed this story of two transients in the Orient involved in jewel smuggling. Fred MacMurray faces the mob and British customs agents in his efforts to recover a fortune in gems which he stowed in his hotel room during the Japanese invasion. A sultry Ava Gardner is the woman who returns from the past to haunt him--having been left for dead in a bombed-out mission on what was to have been their wedding night years before--although she doesn't recognize him now.
