Six Colorful Inside Jobs

: The film creates an ambiguous space out of the dimensions of a room and the process of its being painted. It is the "story of the same room painted six times on six consecutive days.... Throughout the film, there is a tension between seeing the room as a room or seeing it as a solid color-field painting.... The sheer physical allure of this color play can be hypnotic. But attention is also drawn to the painter (Baldessari, whose) actions seem comically incongruous since they are sped up and seen from above. Yet they also have a serious character...suggesting an image of the artist as drone." Noel Carroll, Soho Weekly News
