Snowbound
Produced when Rank was over-producing to keep his stars busy and his theatres supplied with British product, this doesn't make the most of material that would have delighted Hitchcock or Launder and Gilliat, and its ending is rather inconsequential. But getting there is fun: Robert Newton as a film director/master spy persuades movie extra Dennis Price to pose as a writer and dig into mysterious postwar intrigues in the Alps, with Herbert Lom, an unrepentent Nazi, as only one of many suspects.
